Family Responsibilities
All parents with family responsibilities should be assisted and supported in caring for their children. This can be achieved by the provision of various forms of family leave without prejudicing a parent's employment. This should include special leave for parents in cases of family illness or accident or to attend to a child's educational needs.
Most SDA members are entitled to family leave. Consult your award or agreement or contact your Branch. Most SDA enterprise agreements also contain provisions requiring employers to take into account employees' family responsibilities when setting or changing rosters. |
