NEW driving restrictions for P1 drivers under 25

From 28 July 2014, new passenger and night driving restrictions will apply to all P1 drivers who are under the age of 25.

However, there are a number of exemptions for these restrictions which will allow young drivers to get to and from work and participate in other activities.

This form outlines what you need to do to comply with these new laws, including a form on the back of this sheet.

If these changes apply to you and you meet the exemption criteria, you can ask your employer (e.g. your store manager) to fill out and sign the form as evidence that you need to travel for work.

It’s important to keep this form with you when you are driving, to provide to police if you are asked.

This form is not a legal document and does not mean you are automatically exempt from passenger or night driving restrictions. Police may conduct further investigations if they are not satisfied with the level of information provided.

If you would like more information about how these changes will affect your travel to and from or for work contact your SDA Union Rep on 8139 1000.
