Identify any foreseeable hazards- anything in the workplace that has potential to harm anyone e.g. moving parts in machinery, toxic chemicals, manual handling tasks, awkward postures
Assessing the risk from the hazard- finding out how significant the risk is, and how likely it is to occur
Eliminating the hazard or if this is not possible, controlling the risk from the hazard- implementing strategies to eliminate or control the hazard i.e. design equipment differently, adding machine guards, using less toxic chemicals, providing lifting devices to reduce manual handling, redesigning the work area, developing safer work practices
Reviewing and reassessing risk and interventions
Ignore any risky workplace activities
Just accepts dangerous or risky work practices as part of the job
Ignore co-workers concerns about safety at work
