Being forced to work on public holidays or in the extended hours in COVID-19?

For the third time in a row, the South Australian Government has announced suburban Adelaide shops will be able to open over extended hours from Friday June 19 – Saturday July 18 (inclusive).

This means that large retailers in the Adelaide Metropolitan Area will be allowed to open 24 hours a day Monday to Friday, from 12am-9pm on Saturday and from 9am-9pm on Sunday.

All work during these extended hours and on public holidays is completely voluntary for all workers – including salaried managers.

If you are being required to work during any of the extended hours or on public holidays, your employer is breaking the law.

If you’re being forced to work, let us know here.
