Underpayment of wages is now a full blown epidemic.

Over the past year, there have been numerous reports of large-scale underpayments and payroll errors impacting salaried workers.

In response to this, the SDA launched an industry wide audit of all retail brands calling on them to check their systems and ensure salaried workers are being paid correctly.

As a result of our work, so far, Coles and Target have announced workers have been underpaid $20 million and $9 million respectively.

The SDA is here to ensure all affected workers receive payments promptly and offer support and assistance.

If you’re on a salary and think you’re affected by this, get in touch with us here.

If you’re not on a salary, we encourage you to also check your payslips and get in contact with us if you have any concerns.

Restore Payroll Spot-Check Powers

To ensure all companies observe the law, the Morrison Government must immediately restore the legitimate payroll spot-check powers for industry unions. When unions had these legitimate powers 20 years ago, Australia did not have a wages underpayment epidemic.

This is the only solution to ensure all employers are paying legal wages.

Check your Payslips

As your union, the SDA is always here to help members with any concerns about their pay.

Whether it’s a question about your pay slip, penalty rates or overtime – we’re here to provide you with advice and support and make sure you’re paid correctly.

If you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to get in contact with us on 8139 1000.
